Pivot Arts Fest

The annual 10-day festival showcases innovative performances throughout Chicago’s Uptown and Edgewater neighborhoods. This festival features: live music, theater, dance, children’s performances, workshops, discussions, wine tastings, ice cream and more. The third annual “Celebrate Community” Parade will take place on Sat., June 3, and will include large-scale puppets, music and decorative objects made by youth.

Cost: Varies based upon event attending. However, purchasing the Pivot Arts Festival Pass allows you to attend any three shows for $35.

On Clark from Foster to Catalpa

Midsommarfest is Andersonville’s annual two-day and three-night street festival along Clark Street. It features music, dancing, kids’ entertainment, delicious food and showcases Swedish tradition as well as the neighborhood’s diverse population. Midsommarfest will be celebrating its 52nd year in 2017. This year expect a wide array of international food, eclectic music and lively entertainment. Cost: $10 donation at the gate, kids under 12 and seniors are free. All proceeds benefit the Andersonville Chamber of Commerce.


Artists of the Wall
June 17-18
Farwell Avenue at the Lake

The Artists of the Wall Festival is a celebration of community, creativity and music. Each year over Father’s Day weekend, neighbors of all ages come together to collaborate on a 600-foot mural at Loyola Park Beach, located at 6850 North, between Farwell and Morse avenues. The festival is coordinated by members of the Loyola Park Advisory Council. The theme for 2017 is "Making Waves.”

Cost: Free; A limited number of artist spaces will be available on the day of the festival for $35

Argyle Night Market

Every Thursday from July 6 through August 31: 5-9 p.m.
On Argyle from Kenmore to Sheridan

The vibrant and award-winning farmers market and street festival is back for a fifth year. The event is hosted by 48th Ward Ald. Osterman along with the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, Uptown United and Business Partners, The Chamber for Uptown. The Market will include farm stands, face painting and food vendors highlighting local Argyle restaurants, live performance arts and retail goods.

Windy City RibFest in Uptown
June 9 - June 11
Lincoln Avenue from Irving Park to Berteau

Top local and national pit masters will again mix saucy slab offerings that are complemented with an eclectic music lineup at this eighth annual festival. RibFest features arts, crafts and a daytime kids' activity area. Past music stage performers include: The Inventors, The Saps, Dream Vision, American Grizzly, Nick Lynch, Air Traffic Controller among others.

Cost: Suggested donation of $10 ($20 per family) at entrance gate

Midsommer Flight Shakespeare Theater
July 15 and 22 at 6 p.m., July 16 and 23 at 2 p.m.

This summer’s performance in the park is the Shakespearean classic "Hamlet, Prince of Denmark". The performance will consist of an abridged 100-minute version.

Broadway between Thorndale and Ardmore

Now in its sixth year, the 2017 EdgeFest will take over the lakefront in Chicago’s historic Edgewater neighborhood. The 2017 celebration of all things Edgewater will feature flavorsome cuisine, award-winning entertainment, family fun and three-dozen local artists. Edge Cards, which offer a 10 percent discount at over 45 Edgewater businesses are available here.

Glenwood Arts Festival

Aug. 19 and 20, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
Glenwood and Morse

The Glenwood Avenue Arts Fest is a weekend-long arts festival that features over 100 artists, open studios and live entertainment on three outdoor stages. The festival offers art of all disciplines, music, theater, food and drink on the cobblestone streets of the Glenwood Avenue Arts District in Chicago’s historic Rogers Park neighborhood. The Fest will kick off with the Friday Night’s Cobblestone Jam on the South Stage at 6 p.m. on August 19.

Movies at Touhy Park

The Chicago Park District will show more than 200 movies in parks throughout the summer. Summer offerings include LaLaLand, Moana, and the Jungle Book, among other showings. Movies begin at dusk.

Welles Park Gazebo Tuesday Evening Concert Series

Join your neighbors, friends, families and local police to promote safety and community. Bike Ambassadors will be available to teach children bike safety.
